John Pomeroy Gilbert

John Pomeroy Gilbert

On Friday (insert date) I received an email from Findmypast. Nothing unusual in that, one comes most Fridays as I have a subscription with Findmypast, together with a number of other sites, to help fuel my Family History hobby (obsession). I could have used Genealogy but I don't think I do enough validation to raise it into that category. Back to the email, in question. One of the new sets of records on Findmypast it proclaimed was for the 'Southern Times and Dorset County Herald'. Part of my close family migrated from there, so it was worth a quick search on Surname Pomeroy. There was one result at the time, an article in the newspaper dated 31 May 1876. Now there are more results but at the time, only the one.

The article was about the collapse of the West of England and South Wales District Bank.
