All that part of the Township of Messingham which lies to the East of the High Road leading from Bottesford through, Messingham Village, to Scotter, and to the South of the High Road leading form the Town Street opposite the Horn Inn to East Butterwhich.
I have had some difficulty following and locating the places mentioned in this part of the Census.
I am therefore about to embark on mapping the route of the Enumerator based on the description above and the places he has named on his route. I will add individual markers to an ESRI Map, and see if I can find a pattern. Read an introduction to this at ESRI ArcGIS Online: Mapping Basics. I will continue this in the Work and Location tab.
There is another district area for the parish of Messingham.
All that part of the Township of Messingham which lies to the West of the High Road leading from Bottesford through Messingham village to Scotter and to the North of the High Road leading from the Town Street opposite the Horn Inn to East Butterwick.

Route of the Enumerator for the 1851 Census.
The first part of this is to review the Census data and compare it to Old OS maps held at the National Library of Scotland followed by creating an ESRI map of the area plotting the then edges of the parish and the census districts of the Parish. This work has become quite extensive taking a number of weeks so far, so I have started an article called Messingham, so at to avoid this article becoming totally overwhelmed with a side cast about one home in one year.
