What is a hobby to me, personally?
One definition I found is below;
A hobby is a regular activity done for enjoyment, typically during one's leisure time, not professionally and not for pay. Hobbies include collecting themed items and objects, engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, playing sports, or pursuing other amusements.
Then a couple of dictionary definitions, Cambridge and Oxford, unsurprisingly very similar.
An activity that someone does for pleasure when they are not working:
An activity that you do for pleasure when you are not working
So, that is a good starting point. However, I can loose the regular of the first definition as that is most definitely not the case for me. Frequently could go in its place, some times, but other time infrequently would be more apt.
I have also, for the purpose of this site separated Hobbies and Activities, which is a little strange as activity is part of the definition. Perhaps using activity as something with a more physical element. Sports would be included in activities, if I had any interest in sports. Travel and holiday is in the more active part of the spectrum of hobby.
Most of the hobbies in the hobbies section are of the more sedentary persuasion, such as collecting. Not exclusively indoors though. For instance, photography, the taking the picture element, is generally outdoors for me.
Attending Events could also be considered a hobby, as an activity done for pleasure. However, for the purpose of this site they are also considered separately.
A lot of my hobbies spill into work.
