    • At unknown date attended Russell Coates School in Bournemouth. This was a sea school run by the Barnardos organisation. Was sponsored by the Union Castle Merchant shipping line and began working for them. At aged 16 still at Russell Coates he worked atthe shore base of HMS Victory. Worked on the Russian convoys during the war. Became shore based in 1946 after the death of his first child Pamela. Lived at 21 Clifford Street until 1953 then at 105 Derby Road until 1961 then at 74 Broadlands Road until his death.
